1910's Zither Banjo Case (instrument restoration - here)
The case had significant damage and loss to the head area and many split seams, as the original thread had lost its strength.
It had been previously repaired with a new handle and a buckle, to replace a suitcase style catch, and these were preserved.
New head section structure made including a short section of each side and fitted. The ends of both the top and back replaced.
Crushed and bent sides steam bent back to flat.
All seams dismantled and resewn with modern thread.
Worn and frayed edges stabilised and linings glued back in place.
